Festival Season 2019: Overview

It`s finally here!

Festival season starts now, and we couldn`t be more excited. We will provide you with guides for the following festivals, even more will be added during the next weeks!

ROCK IM PARK

The famous twin festivals Rock im Park and Rock am Ring are the biggest Rock festivals in central Europe, promising a crazy weekend in a stunning enviroment. It takes place every year on the first weekend of june.

Line Up

Die Ärzte, Bring me the Horizon, Architects, Die Antwoord, Tencaious D, Slipknot, Beartooth and Tool are just a few on this heavy line up. Despite its name, this festival has something for everyone and various Hip Hop artists play alongside musicians from every rock subgenre.

Vibe

Crazy! It gets dirty, honest and loud, but thats what makes it so special. Loads of beer, moshpits and a camping zone that is called "Animal Park" for a reason, if you`re looking to loose yourself for a few days this is the place to be.

Style

Simple Band shirts paired with ripped jeans and Dr.Martens are the standard outfit, but you will see everything except flower crowns. Glitter is as welcome as leather!

Location

Another reason why RiP is a bit different, it is held in Nürnberg, Germany, and takes place on an old Nazi site with a gorgeous view over the Colosseum that was built during WWII. You can connect history and rocking out better than anywhere else, the museum is also open during the festival if you need a break.

SOUTHSIDE

The southern sister of northern Germanys Hurricane Festival is close to the swiss border and attracts people from all over Europe. It offers a diverse audience, music varies from mainstream to various alternative subgenres and is known to give new breakthrough artists a chance to play on a big stage.

Line Up

Foo Fighters, The Cure, Parkway Drive, Enter Shikari, Papa Roach, Steve Aoki and Mumford & Sons are just a few names of this years alternative Line Up, there is something for everyone! They also have a party tent to please lovers of electronical music that stays open until very early in the morning.

Vibe

This festival offers a laid back alternative vibe, there are many different activities you can attend and people seem to be always happy around here. If you wanna go crazy, just have a chill festival day or jump into a mosh pit, nothing is impossible at this very open minded festival. The guests are as diverse as the line up, the fact that it isn`t stuck to one particular genre makes it even easier to make new friends.

Style

It`s a bit like Germanys Coachella, everyone is dressed in hippie clothes, carefree and putting on what they waited to find an occassion to wear.

Location

Southside takes place on an airfield, which brings the unique possibilty of tarmac and grass at the same time. Easy to access in the very south of Germany and not far from lake constance, you can either arrive by train or car.

OPENAIR ST. GALLEN

There is one big festival in eastern Switzerland that isn`t focused on a genre - OpenAir St.Gallen! Very close to the city, in a valley with a picturesque river and a unique setting of being able to camp on the same ground as the perfomances take place. This festival is literally for everyone, no matter how young or old, especially on sunday even kids visit with their parents, there is always a party going on and the vibe is absolutely unique.

Line Up

Die Ärzte, Florence & the Machine, The 1975, Yungblud and Royal Republic are the biggest names on this years Line Up. Its normally a mixture of artists that are currently in the charts, along with some smaller names on the verge of their break through that are playing OASG. They are known for signing hidden gems, so Maybe this years unknown artists are tomorrows big stars, who knows?!

Vibe

Very laid back! Most people aren`t here for the music, but to have some fun, dance in the mud and make new friends. Because its a rather small festival, the vibe is a special kind of Beautiful, it almost feels like a family party with strangers. What more could you wish for?

Style

Practical. It rains almost every year and when that happens, the whole area turns into a mud valley which is half of the fun and reminds us of the big UK festivals where this is standard! You will need good shoes and a raincoat, this is all about being comfy and enjoying yourself with friends, new or old.

Location

OASG takes place in a valley next to the city of St.Gallen, which is easy accessible by bus from the main train station. Its a beautiful place, especially watching it from above with all the fairy lights, right before you run down yourself and dance with the crowd.

SUMMER BREEZE

Besides Wacken, Summer Breeze is one of Germanys biggest Metalfestivals and hosts 120 bands from all subgenres of heavier music. It can be classified as a midrange festival, and there is one very Special thing about it which is pretty awesome: You can camp next to your car!

Line Up

As Summer Breeze is a pure metal festival, you won`t find many other bands from genres that don`t classify as metal in anyway. One of the biggest namees this year are Parkway Drive, Bullet for my Valentine, In Flames, Airbourne, Bury Tomorrow, Of Mice and Men and many more!

Vibe

As on every metal festival, people are incredibly friendly. Even though not all are that open about other types of music, most people are open minded and happy to meet new people!

Style

This one is pretty obvious: Black. Some carry drinking horns, spiked clothes or leather details but colorwise black is the way to go.

Location

It takes place in a bavarian village called Dinkelsbühl, it is placed between the cities of Nürnberg and Stuttgart. It can easily be reached by train, car ( as I mentioned, you can camp next to your car!) or the Airport of Munich is quite close too.
